Project Description
This LEED Silver Equivalency clinic project was a three PACT patient center and included additional services for opthalmology, dental suites, X-Ray/ Ultrasound, Audiology, Vision, and Behavioral Health Consultation Services. Constructed with a perimeter structure of a site-cast tilt-up concrete shell and steel column/ bar joist roof structure, this facility was built within a 24-month construction period. Faced with devastating wild fires that destroyed nearby Paradise, CA and burned to within sight of the partially completed VA clinic, we were forced to regroup our workforce to push forward to completion. With many of the contractors dealing with the personal loss of their homes and belongings, Hamstra worked with all subcontractors in an effort to afford leniency to all affected while adhering to the construction schedule.
As developer and General Contractor, Hamstra Builders engaged the Architect/ Engineering teams as well as hired out local subcontractors, all working together to complete the project. On-site team meetings, including the VA, Architect, and our Project Superintendent, were conducted every two weeks with a regular agenda covering critical decisions and upcoming scheduled work progress. Action items were addressed and questions answered between meetings via email and phone conversations for a continuous line of open communication.
